Notice of Race

1 RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2017-2020 including Appendix F

1.2 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined by the 2015 IKA Kite Foil Class rules: http://kitefoilgoldcup.com/images/documents/KFClassRules2015.pdf

1.3 The sailing instructions may also change other racing rules.

1.4 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

2 ADVERTISING

2.1 There will be no advertising restrictions.

2.2 Competitors may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

2.3 Competitors are required to wear racing bibs as provided by the organizing authority.

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 The regatta is open to all boards of the Kiteboard racing classes.

3.2 Eligible boats may enter ONLINE: http://www.forkregatta.com

4 FEES

4.1 Required fees are as follows:

Class Fee Kite Foil – Early Bird (Before July 10, 2018) $140

Kite Foil – After July 10, 2018 $165

5 QUALIFYING SERIES AND FINAL SERIES

The regatta will consist of a single series, with a drop race every five races up to 3 drops total.

6 SCHEDULE

6.1 Registration: Kingston Yacht Club, 1 Maitland, Kingston Ontario Day and date: Friday August 23rd from: 8 a.m. To: 9 a.m

6.2 Dates of racing: Aug 23-25

SKIPPERS MEETING 9:00 am daily Friday, August 17th: Kingston Yacht Club 9:30am Saturday & Sunday: PUC pier 9am

6.3 Number of races: 6 Races a day, with up to 2 extra races may be sailed each day.

6.4 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 12:00 pm. This is subject to change depending on Race Committee’s interpretation of the daily forecast. COMMUNICATIONS TO COMPETITORS All changes made will be posted on the Official Notice Board at the venue as well as on the website 30 minutes before they take effect. The Official Notice Board trumps the Online Notice Board. Failure to post to the website is not grounds for protest.

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available after 4:00 P.M. on August 22th, 2019 at Kingston Yacht Club and at the launch site. They will also be posted to the website by August 22nd, 2019.

10 VENUE

Kite launching will be at the Kingston Public Utilities Dock/Gord Downie Pier. Alternate launch sites may be prescribed for different wind directions and conditions.

11 THE COURSES

The courses to be sailed will be as follows: Course Rounding Order (p) = to port (s) = to starboard 1 Start → 1(p)) → 3(p) → Finish 2 Start → 1(p) → 2g →1(p) → 3(p) → Finish 3 Start → 1(p) → 2g →1(p) → 2g → 1(p) → 3(p) → Finish

*ALL WINDWARD MARK ROUNDINGS TO PORT, GATE ROUNDINGS FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

12 PENALTY SYSTEM

12.1 The penalties are as follows: a 360 degree turn with a complete tack and gybe of the kite.

12.3 Decisions of the protest committee will be final as provided in rule 70.5.

13 SCORING

13.1 The scoring system is as follows: Low point scoring system.

13.2   3 races must be completed to constitute a series.

14 SUPPORT BOATS

Support boats shall be marked with Flags, they will be shown at the skippers meeting.

15 PRIZES

Prizes will be given as follows: TBA

16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

17 INSURANCE

Each participant shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $2,000,000 per incident or the equivalent. We Recommend: http://internationalkiteboarding.org/the-sport/insurance

18 MEDIA RIGHTS

By participating in the event competitors automatically grant to the local organizing authority and their sponsors the right in perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of the athlete during and after the period of the competition without compensation.
